Aug 2016 – Latest NAPLAN results show no improvement.

Behold Parents..  If you have your kid(s) in Year 3,5,7 or 9,  and if you have been waiting with some suspense on the outcome of the NAPLAN results this year,  then you are not in for any real surprise.

Yes,  the results are as good (or bad) as last year,  and the year before that,  and before…..

As per the report published on http://www.afr.com.au on 3-Aug-2016,  the results this year show “no statistically significant improvement in any year tested or any of the areas tested compared with last year.”

And if that were not enough, there were “very low minimum achievement standards that were officially set for NAPLAN tests,  hence giving a false sense of comfort.”  Wow,  now that would have taken some innovative mind to think of this brilliance.

And if that weren’t enough, even the response from the premier education authority is no different from what you might have heard / read till now..

The ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority ) has said that it would introduce new NAPLAN proficiency standards which will be higher than the current national minimum standards which it uses. It will also look at how the Australian standards can be linked to international education standards.

Are you surprised ?   Or worried ?
